Footprint in the Snow is the debut solo performance by circus artist Laura Moy.
Drawing on her own surreal experience of touring as an aerialist in contemporary circus; a space of precision, control, beauty & suspended reality whilst facing the daily disorientation of debilitating traumatic grief.
The unexpected loss of a loved one can often leave the bereaved feeling silenced & isolated. In grief we can be altered and the landscape we inhabit unrecognisable, attempting to navigate it can sometimes feel impossible and there are no words.
Footprint in The Snow is a deeply personal story that attempts to acknowledge what grief is and recognise the toll it can take.
When hanging by an elbow 6 metres in the air, for Laura, that was the only space that felt safe.

Originally from the UK, Laura Moy has worked internationally, devising and performing in contemporary circus, dance theatre and immersive arts for 15 years. She specialises in Chinese pole and counterweight. She draws inspiration from dance and embodied movement practices. Footprint in the Snow is her first piece as a director, collaborating with a team of trusted collaborators.
Mark Storor is an award-winning artist with an international reputation and extensive experience of working collaboratively with a wide range of organisations and communities. Working in the unique space between live art and theatre, he has been described in the British press as: ‘a genuinely visionary theatre maker,’ ‘an alchemist,’ and ‘one of the most distinctive voices in British theatre’.
Mark specialises in platforming the voices of those we all too rarely choose to hear. He usually works over several years to create extraordinarily beautiful, tender and uplifting work in which community participants and professionals work side by side in genuine partnership.
Jules Maxwell has worked for twenty-five years with Mark Storor on various projects in theatres, ice cream vans, warehouses and schools. Since 2012 he has played keyboards for Australian band Dead Can Dance and written, recorded and toured with the singer Lisa Gerrard, with whom he released the albums Burn and One Night in Porto.
He has composed songs for Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares and the Portuguese Fado singer Lina_. His work at Shakespeare’s Globe, includes the 2016 production of The Merchant of Venice starring Jonathan Pryce and the 2017 production of Boudica starring Gina McKee. He has created modern dance soundtracks for Wayne McGregor, Cathy Marston, Vincent Dance Theatre, Bern Ballet, Skanes Dansteater Malmö, Jasmin Vardimon and Candoco Dance Company and in 2019 his debut full length opera The Lost Thing was presented by the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
